Best Lahaina Happy Hours by Category
Here is the best of the best happy hours in the Lahaina hit list.
Pick your category and go and enjoy yourself. See our top 10 list below for more details. These restaurants and bars have so much more to offer the world.
Best Happy Hour Drink Specials
Beer: Kohola Brewery
$1 off pints during happy hour, 4:00 to 6:00 pm daily.
At first, this beer special doesn’t sound like much but hear me out. They already serve the cheapest beer on the island with their local craft beer going for $6 to $6.50 a pint. So knocking a dollar off a cheap pint is a cheaper pint. That’s an American pint at 16 oz., compare that to most places serving $8 beers for 10 oz. and you got yourself a happy hour.
Cocktails: Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar
$8 tropical cocktails during happy hour from 2:00 to 5:00 pm daily.
Marlin Bar is the new kid on the block. Opening in late 2020, they came out of the happy hour gate strong with an amazing corner location with ocean and sunset views. The outdoor seating is plentiful but come early to get a spot at the outdoor bar. They mix up a good cocktail for $8. Choose from classics like a margarita, mai tai, Bahia sangria, and mojito. They also have $7 glasses of wine, and $10 martinis.
Sadly, last year’s #1 for best cocktail happy hour Aloha Mixed Plate closed to make room for Star Noodles, the company’s other restaurant. Star Noodle needed the clutch outdoor seating for 2021. Aloha Mixed Plate will be back and hopefully their $4 mai tai. in 2021.
Best Happy Hour Food Specials
Pacific’O on the Beach offers farm-to-table happy hour pupus daily, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm. It is a tight happy hour window at 1-hour so come early and ready to order. 5 of the 6 happy hour pupus are $5 or less. For fine dining and an ocean view, this is the best.
Honorable Mention: Captain Jack’s has tasty, large portion bar-food happy hour specials like $4 tacos, $5 crab cakes, $7 BBQ chicken quesadilla, and others.

Best Sunset Happy Hour Lahaina
Pacific’O On the Beach has the ultimate location to view a sunset. The sunset is after all Lahaina Happy Hours end so your best bet is to come for happy hour and stay for the sunset. Nurse your drink if you have to.
Pacific’O’s lanai slips into a sandy beach. Watch the sun fall behind Lana’i for an amazing sunset and good drinks.
Honorable Mention: Kimo’s is another top location to watch the sunset in Lahaina. Happy Hour ends at 5 but save your seat at the bar to watch the sunset.
It is hard to miss the sun setting on the beach in front of Pacific’O on the Beach.
Best Aloha Happy Hour Vibe
Down the Hatch in the Wharf Cinema Center practices aloha at their happy hour. With a 3-hour happy hour from 2:00 to 5:00, live music (rare during happy hour), good food, and happy-to-see-you bartenders this is the place to go to relax. What makes Down the Hatch special is they have live music during happy hour, from 3:00 to 5:00. Most bars start the music after happy hour.
While it is located below the street level, the place is all outdoor seating. Enjoy sitting at the bar with two large screen TVs overhead or grab a table. The place isn’t huge so come early and have a cocktail.
Best Lahaina Happy Hour Ranking Criteria
We can’t give too much information away on how we come up with our 10 Best Happy Hours in Lahaina list. We take great pride in researching, tasting, and drinking our way up West Maui.
As a rating consolidator, we are the Rotten Tomatoes of Lahaina happy hours. In our top 10 happy hour list, you will find the current Yelp ranking, TripAdvisor ranking, results of our personal research, and our final consolidated ranking.
Our review looks at the following criteria to determine the best Lahaina happy hours.
- Time and duration of the happy hour
- Drink specials
- Appetizer (pupu) specials
- Service with a smile
- Quality of the food and drinks
- Live music or other activity
- Vibe
The vibe is the personality of the place during happy hour. Happy hour vibe is different for everyone. One could be looking for a Jimmy Buffett vibe, a classy joint to impress their girlfriend or boyfriend, or a local dive bar.
We don’t rank one vibe over another but we expect the place to have a personality and not be a beige corporate restaurant decorated with pineapples and hula skirts.
Happy hour in Lahaina has to be happy, right?
We use crowdsourcing to minimize our biases. Adding our two cents to the crowdsourced results provides our local opinion and happy hour expertise to remove the noise from giddy reviews over someone’s first Lava Flow next to a Kaanapali waterfall.
Evolution is key to happy hour reviews so we welcome comments and updates. Email me or leave a comment below on your happy hour experience.

Vibe: The party gets going down in the courtyard with happy hour for 3 hours and live music for 2 hours. The atmosphere is slipper friendly, chill, a healthy mix of locals and tourists, and fun. Yet, not so rambunctious that you have to leave the kids at home. Come early as there will be a line.
The 3 founders fuse the taste of southern Georgia cooking with local fish that has everyone on TripAdvisor recommending to order your drinks and look forward to the pupus rolling out of the kitchen.

Vibe: A chill, local brewery that enjoys making beer more than putting on airs. Order their craft beers or a selection of guest beers from knowledgeable bartenders who are usually sampling the product also. Seating is plentiful but only available indoors due to their liquor license.
The breeze from the open warehouse doors goes well with local singers who pop in and the malt fermenting behind you. Dogs are allowed, kids will have games to play, and bringing your own food is welcomed since they are too busy brewing than bothering with a kitchen.
This brewery, behind a strip mall, is what I expect and love from a local craft beer hall.
The bartenders weren’t too friendly or helpful with selecting a beer but they pour a beer well.
Location: Behind the strip mall at 910 Honoapiilani Hwy at Papalaua Street.
Pro Tip: Ono Taco Mexican food truck is 50 yards away from the brewery. Bring cash and pick up some tacos to have with your beer.
Website: Kohola Brewery
Kohola’s has a wide selection of beer for everyone’s taste, all $1 off during happy hour.
Happy Hour Pro Tip: Grab some tacos at Ono Taco outside of Kohola Brewery to have with your beers.
3. Waikiki Brewing Company, Lahaina
Time | Drink Specials | Appetizer Specials | Events |
Daily, 2:00 to 6:00 |
| The onion rings are the best on the island! Plus, $4 tacos and 25% pupus. | Always a good time with an ocean view and outdoor seating. A good spot for sunset too. |

Vibe: Like a dependable old friend, this brewery brings a laid-back atmosphere, friendly service, and you will find young and old enjoying the beer and food.
Opened in the fall of 2020, this has been one of our new favorite places to go. With two locations in Honolulu, the Lahaina brewery is their first neighbor island attempt. And they have been popular. Sit at the bar, inside, or along the outside for a relaxed happy hour. While an indoor place, all the walls open to make you feel like you are in the Maui weather.
Of course, they have a diverse and delicious beer selection but also try their menu. The onion rings are our favorites but they have plenty of other American comfort foods to keep you happy and full.
Location: At the north end of Front Street, 900 Front St. Lahaina, HI

Vibe: Salty sailors, pirates, and rock-n-rollers can be found at the bar and surrounding tables chatting it up. Captain Jack’s is an ideal location overlooking the Banyan Tree and Lahaina Harbor from their second-floor crow’s nest. Catch a breeze off the ocean and listen to live music all happy hour long. TVs have the games on. Choose to sit at the bar to chat it up with locals or find a table overlooking the Banyan Tree.
The wait staff is friendly and fast on their feet.
When daydreaming of a Lahaina happy hour, Captain Jack’s comes to mind. No frills, good mixed drinks, classic bar food with fresh fish, and flip-flops and tank tops are welcomed for the open-air seating. Tap your foot to the live music and be thankful you are in Lahaina.
Location: Over the ABC Store and across from the Banyan Tree at 672 Front Street. Free street parking is available around the Banyan Tree or across from the elementary school or pay-to-park in The Wharf’s parking lot off Luakine Street.
Pro Tip: The food is the best part of happy hour at Captain Jack’s. The pupu portions are large and delicious.

Here is my dad enjoying the Captain Jack’s happy hour menu with a view over Front Street in 2020.
Captain Jack’s is a popular happy hour for live music and sporting events.
5. Pacific’O on the Beach Happy Hour
Time | Drink Specials | Appetizer Specials | Events |

|
(see happy hour menu section) | Live music Friday and Saturdays from 4:30 to 6:30 |

TripAdvisor: 10
Vibe: A place to be seen for locals. For those who are looking for farm-to-table drinks and cuisine and a view of the ocean then this is an ideal happy hour for you. 75% to 90% is farm to table from O’O farms (located in Upcountry), depends on the time of year. They grow 80+ products at the farm over the year and serve at their restaurant.
Talk story with relaxing Hawaiian music playing in the background. Step out onto the beach or stay inside the open-air seating, the choice is yours. The happy hour during the winter is quieter as fewer people are attending. During the summer it is lively as the Feast of Lele guests come here to pre-party.
A great place to relax with your date and enjoy fine dining at happy hour prices. A $6 mai tai and $3 pupus (small but you can load up at $3) will make you feel like money well spent for such an ideal location.
Location: On the beach (as the name implies) behind 505 Front Street Shopping Center. Park below the shopping center and walk towards the ocean.
Pro Tip: During the summer, the Feast of Lele luau starts earlier so Pacific’O is the ideal place to come before attending the luau to have a cocktail.
Website: Pacific’O on the Beach
Erica enjoys the sunsets at Pacific’O on the Beach during our few date nights.

Vibe: Make your wife fall in love with you again during a Marlin Bar Happy Hour. The ambiance is classic Hawaiian vacation, as you would expect from Tommy Bahama with dependable, friendly service and quality pupus. While part of a Tommy Bahama store, the bar and restaurant have their own distinct area and vibe.

Vibe: Monkeypod Kitchen in Ka’anapali is Merriman’s 3rd location. The place rides the line of a beige corporate restaurant but doesn’t cross it. The massive bar, amazing skylight, and ocean views make for a relaxing and pleasant happy hour with the family and close friends.
While the menu is on the $$$ scale, they manage to knock off a healthy amount to bring a smile to your face for happy hour. 50% appetizers and the festive live music made this place worth going to on an afternoon happy hour.

Vibe: Mick Fleetwood knows how to build a restaurant and bar. The interior is dark hardwood with a touch of industrial chic. It doesn’t have a strong Hawaiian feel but the waitstaff serves aloha. It is classy and the prices are too. That is why coming for happy hour is the time to go.
Save some dollars while getting live music and an ocean view out of their large, second-story windows.
The bonus is the happy hour on the roof. Head upstairs for a view with music.
Location: Lahaina Town on the center of Front St (as the name implies) facing the ocean, 744 Front St.
Pro Tip: Sit near the windows in the bar for the best view of the ocean and the stage.

Vibe: Leave the kids and grandparents at home. The kinda place where you bring a few friends with you for Lahaina’s best late-night happy hour. Late for Maui, that is. With a location overlooking Front Street, it is a great happy hour place to people watch, grab a cold drink, and enjoy some pupus.
The pupus menu is classic bar food at a good price with decent to above-average reviews. Order at the bar and get ready to party.
Location: Lahaina Town at 844 Front Street, across from Kimo’s and a half block up from Cheeseburger in Paradise.
Pro Tip: Happy hour deals are off the table during major sporting events and UFC. You have been warned.

10. Cool Cat Cafe Happy Hour
Time | Drink Specials | Appetizer Specials | Events |
Daily, 3:00 to 6:00 pm |
|
| Enjoy the live music from Down the Hatch right below you. |
Vibe: Sure, its a kitchy 50s diner in Maui but it is a fun place. Sticky floors from all the milkshakes but the outdoor seating and music from Down the Hatch, make this a fun happy hour spot. Plus they have great specials.
We love this place for the milkshakes and live music. Happy hour is a special treat with amazing drink specials, a fun pupu menu, and a view of Lahaina’s banyan tree. Live music starts after happy hour so stick around. If Down the Hatch is busy, come upstairs to Cool Cat Cafe.
Location: In the Lahaina Wharf Cinema Center, upstairs, at 658 Front St. Lahaina.
Pro Tip: Park in the Wharf Cinema Center’s large parking lot and get 2-hours of validated parking
