Our Experience:
Check out our experience on the Atlantis Submarine from Maui! It’s the same tour as on the Big Island, so you can see the sub and what we thought of the tour itself, but the pricing has changed. We compare it to the ReefDancer Semi-Sub which was unfortunately lost to the Lahaina Fire, but it’s still fun to see the differences and keep the memories. Both were wonderful experiences.
Big Island Hawaii Submarine Tour
If you (or your little ones) have ever wanted to go in a real-life submarine, this is your chance! This 1.5-hour tour starts at the Courtyard King Kamehameha Beach Hotel 30 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. You can choose if you’d like narration, which can be downloaded before heading out.
You’ll take a shuttle boat to the submarine itself, enjoying views of the Kona coast and, if you’re visiting in the winter months, possibly even whales on the way! You’ll transfer from the shuttle boat onto the sub and begin your descent 100 feet underwater.
The submarine will actually taxi just above the ocean floor, and this is your chance to see tons of marine life. You’ll explore areas of the Kona Coast you can’t see any other way.
This tour is a great alternative or addition to snorkeling and departs from a really convenient area in Kailua-Kona.
