Most divers default to the busy boats out of Kona. We get the appeal, but it means crowded sites and a rushed pace. Puako Dive Adventures takes the opposite approach. Close Encounters: The Manta Dive (One Tank Plus Snorkeling)
This is by far their most popular tour. Manta ray scuba diving is a Big Island-only thing to do. This dive is a focused trip built entirely around the manta encounter, the most intimate one on the Big Island, where these giants loop overhead and glide past close enough to feel like you could reach out.
Because it pairs one tank of diving with snorkeling, it is the most flexible option for a mixed group, so a non-diving partner or older kid can snorkel the same water while you dive.

An early start rewards you with calm water and a reef that is just waking up. Over two tanks, you glide through lava landscapes while reef life stirs around you, with great odds of turtles and the clearest light of the day.

Twilight Protocol: Reef After Dark (Evening Two Tank Dive)
The most dramatic of the three. You drop in during golden sunset and stay as the reef transforms, daytime fish bedding down while the strange and wonderful night creatures emerge. Watching that shift happen around you is the kind of dive you remember for years.
I believe this is the owner, Flippers, favorite dive. He loves exploring the reef at night and seeing seasoned divers react.
