Kayak and Snorkel Kealakekua Bay with Adventures in Paradise
One of our favorite snorkel experiences on the Big Island.
Summary: Experience Kealakekua Bay and snorkel at the Captain Cook Monument with your guides from Adventures in Paradise. Take either a morning or afternoon departure and kayak across the bay while your guide shares history of the area and point out local landmarks. If you’re lucky, you might even see a pod of spinner dolphins as you cross the bay. Head into the water at Captain Cook Monument and snorkel at one of the premier snorkeling spots on the island.
We love snorkeling at this spot so much, it earned the #1 spot on our Where to Snorkel on the Big Island video:
- 3.5 hour kayak experience
- You might see spinner dolphins, turtles, and a wide variety of fish
- Kayak and snorkeling experience not required, but helpful
- Knowledgeable guides add to the experience
- Snorkel in a marine life conservation district
- Included in the price of the tour are double kayaks, life preservers, and instruction
- 1-1.5 hours of snorkel time and
Add some extra adventure into your trip with a kayak and snorkeling excursion in a marine life conservation district. You have two departure times to choose from: 7:30 am and 11:30 am and the tour runs 3.5 hours.
During your trip your guides will help you safely navigate the bay while providing education both on the sea life and history of this historic location. This was where the first westerner, Captain James Cook, landed in the islands. But not only is it a historic location, but it’s also a marine life conservation district. You’ll enjoy crystal blue waters, see a lot of fish, and if you’re lucky you may even see turtles and spinner dolphins. One of our most memorable days on the big island was spent kayaking and snorkeling in this bay.
Tip: while you may want to sleep in and take the later trip, the early bird is rewarded with a much less crowded snorkeling experience here.
