Second, you can’t beat the small group size. The Zodiac takes a maximum of 14 passengers. A lot of the other Napali Coast rafting tours have 28 or more. A catamaran tour can be for over 50 people. Fewer people mean a more intimate experience and more room on the raft.
You are not elbowing for a spot at the rail, waiting in line to get in and out of the water, and the captain has time to point things out and answer questions. It feels less like a shuttle and more like a day on the water with friends.
The smaller boat is also just more nimble. It can tuck into spots a big, crowded vessel simply cannot reach, which is exactly why the sea caves are on the menu here.
This tour departs from Kekaha on the West Side, at the Kikiaola launch just past Waimea. That is the closest harbor to the Napali Coast. Many catamaran tours leave from Port Allen, which sits farther down the south side, so a big chunk of their trip is just getting to the coast and back.
