FAQs: Umauma’s ATV Deluxe Experience

What should I wear on the ATV Tour?

Closed-toe footwear, such as sneakers of hiking boots should be worn. Be sure to tie back long hair. Glasses should be secured with a strap. Make sure you remove any sharp objects from your pockets.

What if people in my party don’t want to ATV?

For those who are too young or not interested in rappeling, they can partake in a self-guided tour of the Umauma Falls and Garden for $12 plus taxes and fees. Book here.

Does the tour run rain or shine?

Yes. Their tour runs rain or shine. UTVs have covers on them but you will get wet and muddy.

Can we do both the Zipline and ATV Tours on the same day?

Of course! Each of their tours are 2 to 2.5 hours long. They have a 9:30 am ATV tour that finishes at 11:30 am, giving you the opportunity to jump on their 1 pm Zipline Tour. If you would like to start the morning off ziplining, you can reserve their 10 am Zipline Tour ending at about 12 pm or 12:30 pm, then end the day on their 1 pm ATV Tour. Either way, you can enjoy a fun-filled family day with The Umauma Experience.

Is the ATV Tour guided?

Yes, all their tours are guided. There are two guides on the ATV Tour: one will lead the tour and set the pace for the adventure; the second guide will be at the end of the fleet, making sure everyone stays on course and is having a good time.

Why can’t my (unlicensed) 16-year-old drive? Why can’t my (licensed) 16-year-old pack us (family members) in a side-by-side?

Their insurance requires all drivers to have a valid driver’s license. Being that a 16-year-old is not legally an adult yet, they cannot have a minor pack any other members in Umauma’s vehicles, but they are more than welcome to drive their own ATV (if they have a valid license).

Do you provide transportation? (From Hilo or Kona)

Unfortunately, not at this time.

Is there a cancellation policy?

They have a strict 24-hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel for any reason be sure to call and notify them 24-hours before your scheduled tour. You will then be issued a full refund. If you call within 24-hours and Umauma Experience can possibly reschedule you, but no refund will be issued.

Will there be other outdoor activities besides ATV tours?

Yes, they offer zipline courses, Umauma Falls & Garden Tour, waterfall rappels, and a zip and dip tour. Make a full day out of it. Check out their other tours here:

  • Zip & Dip
  • 9-Line Zipline Tour
  • Tour Umuama Falls and Garden

About The Umauma Experience Team

For me, the guides leading our zipline adventure made the trip even better. Their instruction, stories along the way, smooth operation of the course, and friendly faces had everyone laughing and enjoying the zipline. It was pouring rain for some of the trip but no one seemed to mind.

Let the team at Umauma Experience tell you about themselves here and why you should go with them on this epic adventure:

A memorable adventure is only as good as the guide leading your way. At the Umauma Experience, we know Hawaii is so much more than a beautiful place to get away from it all. You’re here for a once-in-a-lifetime experience and know memories are made here. Our hope is to enhance your time on our island with guides who bring a unique and fun perspective beyond the usual experience.

The Umauma Experience guides love adventure. They have deep knowledge of the landscape and a passion for the history and cultural heritage of Hawaii. Hawaii is more than just a destination; it’s a way of life for those of us who live here. Our guides live and breathe the outdoor life and will take that love of the great Hawaiian outdoors and share it with you no matter what adventure you choose. We want to show you what makes Hawaii and Umauma Falls unique, sharing local history and our experiences here, and give you a hands-on experience you’ll never forget.
