Surf Lessons Waikiki

You know you’ve always wanted to try it. Surfing is an important part of Hawaii’s culture dating back to the 4th century. And now with your trip to Hawaii, you can take part in this time-honored tradition with the Ohana Surf Project. A surf school located in Waikiki that offers surf lessons for all ability levels. These surf instructors even got Jordan on his feet!

Waikiki Surf Lesson Details

You’ve always kind of wanted to try surfing. Who hasn’t right? And when you hit Waikiki beach, you see the waves full of surfers having a great time. But you don’t really know how to navigate the waves on a surfboard.

That’s where Ohana Surf Project comes in. They offer group, private and semi-private lessons for beginner to advanced surfers. Lessons are completely customizable to your skill level and the experienced and friendly coaches will make sure you’re safe and having a great time. After you catch that first wave, you might just be ready to plan your next surfing trip back to the island.

Included in the Surf Lesson

They provide water shoes, a rash guard, and a surfboard perfect for your size and skill. They also provide pickup service from around Honolulu.

Lessons on Publics Break

Walk from your Waikiki hotel towards Diamond Head to find the Ohana Surf Project bus. Click for directions. They are located at San Souci State Park, near Kapiolani Regional Park. You will surf the famous Publics.

1 or 2-Hour Lessons

Surf lessons are available 7-days a week, three times a day!

Pictures Available

They will take GoPro pictures and will be available at the end of your tour.

Waikiki Surf Lesson FAQ

This tour is not ADA accessible.

Please note that each time represents one tour bus. To ensure your party will be seated together please make sure all tickets are purchased for the same bus.

What is the cancellation policy?

Customers will receive a full refund with 48 hours notice of cancellation during the high traffic seasons* and/or when they specify, and they offer 24 hours notice of cancellation during the rest of the year. Large group bookings of 8 are more are subject to a 72-hour cancellation policy year-round. You must contact Ohana Surf Project by phone to cancel or inquire about rescheduling. No-shows and decreases in the number of students will be charged the full price. Rescheduling between 24 and 4 hours before your lesson will be subject to a rescheduling fee (must call by 6 pm the night before for any next day 9 am lesson times). Rescheduled lessons are no longer eligible for refunds once rescheduled. Lessons may only be rescheduled once.

*High traffic season dates = June 1st to August 31st / Thanksgiving week / December 15th to January 5th / Spring Break weeks between the middle of March to end of April.

Do they provide hotel or condo pickup?

Ohana Surf Project offer free pickup from Waikiki from their five standard pickup locations:
(1) Ilikai Hotel
(2) Ambassador Hotel
(3) Don Ho Lane Van Depot
(4) Hyatt Regency
(5) Waikiki Beach Marriott

For customers staying at the Ala Moana Hotel, Hale Koa Hotel, Kahala Hotel and Resort, The Ritz Carlton, or Trump Hotel, they may be able to arrange a special pickup closer to the hotel with a notification call or email at least 24 hours in advance.

For customers driving to Waikiki, they can arrange a pickup at one of their standard pickup locations or there is metered parking nearby the surf location at Queens Surf Beach. (2699 Kalakaua Avenue in between the zoo and the aquarium)

If either the customer or accompanying guest has a handicap or injury and needs to arrange a special pickup, please call or email them with 24-hours notice and they are more than happy to come directly to your hotel.
