Turtle Canyon Snorkeling Tour Details
We know you want to swim with the Hawaiian green sea turtle, or honu, when you visit Hawaii, and this is a great activity to do just that. Hawaii does a fantastic job of protecting marine life, so your guide will make sure you know the laws and best practices for snorkeling with sea turtles, snorkel safety tips, and know where to find the turtles! Please bring and wear mineral-based sunscreen to keep the reef alive and vibrant!
Turtle Canyon is a natural turtle cleaning station, where sea turtles go to situate themselves above the reef and reef fish will come through and clean their shells. Fish will remove algae, barnacles, and even parasites, so this is important for the turtle’s health. Plus it’s also pretty cool to see. It’s no wonder it’s such a popular snorkeling spot, and this tour offers guaranteed turtle sightings or you get to go out again free of charge.
This tour sets out on a power raft, which we love for a fun ride and a lower chance of seasickness, just keep in mind that it’s not as comfortable of a ride as a boat and may not be the best option for younger children. An added bonus to the power raft is the small group size. Unlike big boat tours, this raft carries up to 6 guests, making it a semi-private, small group experience. Of course, if you’re a party of 6, find a day and time that hasn’t been booked and you’ll have yourself a private tour!
Bring Your Camera
Bring your phone or professional camera for pictures. We like to bring an underwater camera (like a GoPro) to capture close encounters from the boat or use it when snorkeling.
2-Hour Duration Tours
Daily 1.5-hour tours set out 5 times per day. Ages 5 and older are welcome. Check-in 10 minutes prior to departure.
Snorkel Tour
Jump into the water (if you desire) to swim with sea turtles and fish, then kick back on the raft to look out for spinner dolphins, turtles, and even humpback whales in the winter months (December – April).
Departs from the Kewalo Basin Harbor
The departure location is a very convenient 11 minute drive/45 minute walk from central Waikiki! Click here for directions.
If you’re looking for a more budget friendly experience, this Turtle Canyon large group tour won’t disappoint! You can also skip the crowds around Waikiki and still snorkel with sea turtles and dolphins on this Ko Olina Snorkel Tour, a 45-minute drive from Waikiki.
