Quick Overview
In a nutshell: escape the busyness at this elegant and oceanfront hotel in Waikiki.
Overview of the Halekulani Hotel
Elegance and serenity are two words that I instantly think of when someone mentions the Halekulani. The hotel features open air, spacious grounds, recently renovated rooms, and a stunning pool. This is one of the nicest hotels in Waikiki (if not the nicest).
Halekulani Key Facts
Halekulani Location
You’re in the middle of Waikiki and walking distance to everything. The hotel is located at the end of the quieter Lewers street, away from the busy Kalakaua Avenue. Just a few steps away from dining options like Roy’s Waikiki and Ruth’s Chris Steak House.
Halekulani Pool
Their iconic, heated 82-foot pool is beautiful. It’s made up of 1.2 million glass tiles in a beautiful mosaic of an orchid.
Halekulani Hotel Review: why we love it
- Amazing service: The service here is top notch and everyone you encounter is absolutely wonderful. The service is one of those things that really makes this property feel so special.
- Relaxing: It is difficult to find a hotel in Waikiki that is actually relaxing. The Halekulani is a tranquil oasis in the sea of busy. You instantly feel calm as soon as you walk onto the property.
- No resort fee: This might be a very expensive hotel, but one silver lining is they don’t charge a resort fee. Resort fees are very common with hotels in Hawaii and can add on $30+ per night. But you get everything at Halekulani without a resort fee. Hooray!
- The House Without a Key: Book an outdoor table here for drinks and pupus one night at sunset. This is such a special spot to watch the live entertainment with views of Diamond Head as the sun goes down.
Things to Know Before Booking The Halekulani Hotel
- There’s not much beach: This hotel has a very small beach in front of it, so don’t plan on walking out to a beautiful stretch of Waikiki beach. But if you want to get more beach time in, Waikiki beach is just a few minutes walk away.
- Hotel experiences are limited: Some hotels really like to go all out with on-site experiences (like Turtle Bay). The Halekulani doesn’t do this. There’s not much available other than a workout class.
- Most expensive Waikiki hotel: You have probably already guessed this, but staying here is not inexpensive. This is probably the most expensive hotel in Waikiki. While you get luxury amenities and service that matches the high price, it might be still be a sticker shock.
