Quick Overview
If you want to make your points stretch as far as possible, this is the hotel to book! With Hyatt’s award chart, this Category 4 hotel can be booked for as little as 12,000 points per night.
But that’s not the only reason to love the Hyatt Place in Waikiki. While the hotel is not located ON the beach, that’s really not necessary in Waikiki. It’s just a quick 5-minute walk away from Kuhio Beach (one of the beaches in Waikiki and is super kid-friendly!), and a 10-minute walk away from other great spots like the Honolulu Zoo or the Barefoot Beach Cafe, one of our favorite places to eat.
The hotel is clean, features a pool and fitness center, and is situated in a great location. While the rooms are a little small, you’re probably not coming to Hawaii to spend the day in your room. So if you’re looking to maximize your points value, this is the place to book.

Booking the Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach with Points
In case you missed it in the introduction, this is a Category 4 Hyatt Hotel, which means a standard award night will cost just 15,000 points! Off-peak rooms cost 12,000 points per night, and peak nights cost 18,000 points.
Hyatt rooms are always an excellent points value, but this is truly a great deal for a place in the middle of Waikiki.
When I look at the points calendars, standard rooms are available 80% or more of the time. The peak seasons are holidays, like Christmas and the summer months. Book a year in advance to find off-peak availability.

It’s not difficult to hit the points needed to get a 4 or 5-night free stay with just one credit card welcome bonus. Check out the best current offers to pick a card (or two) that will help you earn Hyatt points!
Why We Love the Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach
While the points value is one of the biggest reasons we love the Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach, there are a few other reasons:
- Free breakfast buffet!
- Pet friendly
- Great off-beach location that is easily walkable
- You can borrow towels and chairs to take to the beach
- Private lanai (balcony)
- Clean, modern, and no frills

Things to Know Before Booking the Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach
Though we think this is an excellent point value and a place to definitely consider booking if you want to get the most bang for your points, not everything is rosy:
- Valet parking fee is $53 per night (at time of publishing)
- The rooms are small and basic
- This is not a beachfront location (though it’s just a short walk!)
- Points availability sells out quickly, so you need to plan well in advance!
