Sunrise Deluxe Snorkel to Molokini Crater Details

You’re up and at em early for this sunrise snorkel trip on the Kai Kanani. But the early bird certainly gets the best experience here — you’ll get to see Molokini before any other tour boats. Molokini Crater is a partially submerged volcanic crater that is a marine sanctuary and a popular snorkeling spot, accessible only by boat. You’ll also visit Turtle Town on the tour, conditions permitting.

Don’t be too concerned about the early wake time. Kai Kanani makes sure to have what you need onboard including Maui Roasters Coffee, hot chocolate, and a full bar (offered after snorkeling). They also start the day off with yogurt parfaits and cinnamon rolls and follow that up with a full breakfast once snorkeling has finished.

Kai Kanani leaves from Maluaka Beach (click here for directions) for a boat loading, which can be a challenge for some people. During beach loading, you will have to wade into the ocean to reach the stairs of the boat so do plan on getting wet. But that beach loading location is just a few miles from Molokini, which makes the trip out there short and gets you in the water snorkeling before anyone else. Plus, it’s an extremely convenient location for anyone staying in Wailea.

The trip lasts 3.5 hours, which means you’ll be back to shore by 9:45, leaving you the rest of the day to explore or relax by the pool. Kai Kanani offers free transportation to the boat from select hotels.
