Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How much does a helicopter tour cost?
The price of the tour is calculated based on how many people are on the tour. Book for 3 people and get the best rate per person!
I’m traveling along. The website says $XXX per person, can I pay that and go by myself?
All their tours are PRIVATE. This means they will not combine different parties in the same helicopter. If you book for 1 person – you will be charged the same price as a 3-person tour. In this case, it will be you, a pilot, and 2 empty seats in the helicopter. They will not add strangers to your flight because you paid for the seats. For an odd chance of 2 solo travelers trying to book flights on the same day, they will let you know about each other, but it’s on you to make the contact and negotiate your cost split.
What do I bring or wear on the helicopter tour?
Make sure you have sunglasses or regular glasses to protect your eyes from the wind! Keep long hair pulled back. They also recommend you to wear a light jacket if you get cold easily.
- Make sure to bring your Photo ID!
- Make sure to bring your cell phone (they will provide lanyards for them)
- Any cameras must have straps
- Light jacket
What can I expect on my tour?
You can expect to see the most beautiful sights on Oahu, guided by a knowledgeable and courteous pilot. It will be an unforgettable experience! Their tours accommodate 1-3 passengers and they offer doors-on or doors-off options.
Is flying with the doors off safe?
Yes. The helicopter model they operate is specifically approved by the FAA for any door on/door off configuration. You will also be required to wear a seat belt at all times. Their staff will instruct you about in-flight safety measures before your flight. Your safety is their first priority.
What will I see on the tour?
Each tour offers a different set of locations that you will see. For example, the 18 min tour is centered around Waikiki and urban Honolulu, but the 60 min flight will take you around the whole island where you will see mountains, waterfalls, and historic Pearl Harbor.
Are helicopter tours safe?
As is the case with any other form of transportation, it all comes down to how well the vehicle is maintained and the skill of the pilot. They have a 100% safety record for over 11 years in the helicopter business.

About Honolulu Helicopter Tours
The pilots, owners, and maintenance staff at Honolulu Helicopter Tours are passionate about flying and the island of Oahu. Let them show you around.
Ryan – Founder and Pilot
Ryan has been interested in aviation for as long as he can remember. He started flying airplanes when he was 18 in his hometown of Santa Cruz California. Ryan moved to Hawaii in 2011 where he gained another decade of experience flying and maintaining helicopters. Ryan does not like to have mayo on his sandwiches, so if you decide to bring him one please keep that in mind.
Alex – Found and Pilot
Alex moved to Hawaii from Russia in 2009 and started his aviation carrier shortly after by becoming a fixed-wing (airplane) pilot. Several years later he purchased his first helicopter with the intention to learn how to fly it and possibly move on. Instead of moving on, he fell in love with flying. Soon after Alex met Ryan (owner) and a year later they decide to start their own helicopter tour company. In his free time, Alex enjoys skydiving, surfing, and photography. Alex can not tolerate the word “moist” and may start crying if you say it.
