If you have already done the beaches and you are looking for something different, this is it. The Moku Roots farm tour is a calm, scenic morning up in Kula that ends with a brunch made from food picked just steps away. It is one of our favorite ways to spend time Upcountry, and the cooler air up here is a welcome break from the heat down in Lahaina or Kihei.

What to Expect on This Upcountry Maui Farm Tour
The morning starts at 8:30 am with check-in and drinks, then a guided walk through the farm from 9 to 10 am.
Your hosts show you how they grow, harvest, and cook their food using zero-waste and regenerative practices, and you taste ingredients straight from the gardens along the way. You also get to meet, pet, and photograph the farm animals, including the alpacas and a small herd of gentle draft horses, which is a hit with kids and adults alike.
Around 10 am, everyone sits down to a farm-to-table brunch buffet built from whatever is in season, paired with curated drinks. The food is plant-based and genuinely good, not an afterthought. Group sizes are kept small on purpose, so the whole thing feels personal and unhurried.

Why This Upcountry Maui Farm Tour Is Worth It
Moku Roots started as a beloved Lahaina restaurant and relocated to the farm in Kula after the 2023 wildfires, continuing its mission of sustainable, local food.
Booking the tour supports that work directly. You are eating food grown on the land you are standing on, meeting the people and animals behind it, and learning how local farming helps Maui’s food system. It is the kind of meaningful, low-key experience we love pointing readers toward, and an easy add-on to a day exploring Makawao town and the rest of Upcountry.
