Quick Overview
In a nutshell: Queen Kapiolani is a great choice for active types prioritizing location and budget over resort luxuries.
Overview of Queen Kapiolani
This budget-friendly hotel is comfortable, not luxurious. The location is phenomenal, only a short block from the beach, on the last street of highrises before Kapi’olani Park (and beyond it Diamond Head State Monument). Waikiki resorts and shops are just to your north and the Honolulu Zoo is directly across the street (the hotel offers discounts to the Honolulu Zoo and Waikiki Aquarium, both located within the park). If you are looking for a hotel, not a resort, this is a great place to rest and recharge between your island adventures.

Things to Know Before Booking Queen Kapiolani
- Dated and small rooms: the lobby decor is fun and festive, but the rooms could use an upgrade
- Service is pleasant and efficient: just not what you might find at a luxury resort. So keep your expectations in check! There is often a line at the front desk.
- Resort and parking fees: Unfortunately, high resort and parking fees are par for the course in Hawaii. Like many resorts, the Queen Kapiolani charges both a daily resort fee and a daily parking fee, which is not included in the room rate. This can be sticker shock if you’re not expecting it.
