Quick Overview

  • Location: Kailua-Kona, Big Island
  • Type: Vacation Rental
  • Price: $$
  • Beachfront: Yes

In a nutshell: Just outside the heart of Kailua-Kona, get a low-frills condo experience with incredible views.

Overview of The Sea Village

Situated 2 miles away from downtown Kailua-Kona The Sea Village is close enough to get all the perks of staying in Kona, but it’s just far enough to get a more relaxed energy. Kailua-Kona offers all of your shopping and dining, but Green Flash Coffee is on the property grounds to provide you with your morning pick-me-up before going out and exploring.

It is oceanfront with spectacular views, but the shoreline is rocky, so your closest sandy beaches are 1/2 a mile to Honl’s Beach or about 2 miles to Magic Sands and Pahoehoe Beach Parks. These condos offer all the basics including a full kitchen, washer and dryer, lanai, and 1 and 2 bedroom floorpans. The downsides are few units have AC and the property is not ADA accessible.

The Sea Village Key Facts

The Sea Village Location:

Just 2 miles south of downtown Kailua-Kona and 10 miles from Kona International Airport, The Sea Village is well situated for Kona visitors. It is far enough for those looking for a quieter Kona experience, but close enough to walk for those not bothered by 2 miles, 30 minutes each way. Honl’s beach is just 1/2 a mile north of the condos, and 2 miles south you’ll find Magic Sands and Pahoehoe Beach Parks.

The Sea Village Pool:

There is one pool and a spa on the grounds right off the shoreline with sweeping ocean views.

The Sea Village Unit Sizes:

There are 1 bed/1 bath and 2 bed/2 bath units with in-unit laundry, full kitchens, and a lanai.

The Sea Village Review: why we love it

  • The views: The Sea Village is wonderfully situated for excellent ocean sunset views. During the day you can watch cruise ships, dolphins, and other marine life from your lanai or the pool.
  • The property: The grounds here are very well-maintained and the pool being so close to the shoreline is really a treat. You can watch as waves lap and crash on the rocks just over the short sea wall that sections off the pool area.
  • Coffee on grounds: Green Flash Coffee is right on the grounds of The Sea Village, which is great for those mornings you don’t want to make the drive or walk into town first thing. They close just before lunch, but it’s perfect for a morning fix before getting your day started.

Things to Know Before Booking The Sea Village

  • Rocky shoreline: The Sea Village is oceanfront, but you won’t find a sandy beach outside your door. You absolutely can still snorkel and swim from the rocks, but this won’t be suitable for everyone.
  • AC is a luxury: Very few of these units have air conditioning, there is a decent ocean breeze, but it can get warm if it stops. If AC is a must for you be sure to check the individual listing or checking out one of our other reviews.
  • Not accessible: None of these units are ADA accessible and there is no elevator. So this complex is not an option for wheelchair users and those needing other accessibility features.
  • Rental fees: All accommodations in Hawaii can come with some (rather large) fees. Whether you’re in a hotel paying resort fees or you’re getting a vacation rental and paying service fees, factor these into your equation. We usually go with VRBO because we’ve found that these fees are usually lower than what you’ll find on other similar platforms.
  • No unit consistency: All of these vacation rentals are individually owned, so there’s a lack of consistency. Some have excellent views and others come with a less impressive view or fewer helpful in-unit amenities. Reading reviews of individual units can always give you a better sense of what to expect before booking.

There are some Sea Village vacation rentals also available through Marriott Homes & Villas. While you can’t read reviews of the exact unit you’re getting, there is some comfort in booking through Marriott. And you can use and earn Marriott Bonvoy Points!

Book a one bedroom unit or two bedroom unit through Marriott.
