You’ve seen it in movies, and I’m sure you’ve imagined yourself riding horseback on the beach as the sun sets. It’s quite a romantic image, and maybe even something you’ve envisioned as being part of your dream vacation to Hawaii. Thanks to North Shore Stables, this is possible. While these are daytime rides, you can still get that quintessential movie scene vacation experience.
Not only can you take a beautiful ocean-side horseback ride, your kids can take lessons or pony rides. The Keiki Lessons are 45 minute sessions for young children ages 2-6 and are completely tailored to their short attention spans and need for constant engagement. Their Basic Riding Lesson is a 45 minute session for children 7 and up. They even offer Pony Rides for little ones 2 and up who don’t want a full lesson, but want to be able to spend 15 minutes on a pony to try it out and have fun!
North Shore Stables is located on the North Shore of Oahu making it a perfect addition to a day on the north side, and even more convenient if you’re staying in the area.

What to Wear
- Closed toe shoes are required for this ride.
- Wearing long pants and sunglasses are recommended.
- Helmets are provided and are required for this ride.
- Backpacks, bags, and bulky camera equipment will not be allowed on the horse for the ride.
Age Requirements
- People ages 10 years old and up are welcome to participate.
- Children ages 6-9 are able to participate with an added $50 fee per child (child will be hand-walked by a staff member for safety purposes).
- Child care services are offered for children under 6 years of age. (See below)
Child Care Services
Child care services are available for groups traveling with children under 10 years of age who cannot join a larger group on a trail ride. Children utilizing these services will spend time at the petting zoo under the supervision of a licensed child care professional. Accepting children ages 2 to 9 years of age with a service charge of $50 per child.
