In a nutshell: Great for groups and low frills on the Kohala Coast.

Overview of the Colony Villas at Waikoloa

Nestled between two golf courses, the Colony Villas at Waikoloa has everything you need and most of what you want on your vacation. If you’re looking for beachfront condos walking distance to everything, there are other vacation rental communities in Waikoloa to check out. But if you don’t mind being a little further from the beach and shops, you won’t lose out on anything here.

These vacation rentals come with 2 to 3 bedrooms and at least 2 bathrooms, air conditioning, and washer and dryers. On site you’ll find tennis courts, two pools, a nice jacuzzi, and a fitness center, and just beyond the property are two golf courses. Plus, you’ll be just 15 minutes away from the best beach on the Big Island (Hapuna Beach).

The Colony Villas at Waikoloa Review: why we love it

  • Great for families and groups: Starting at 2 bedrooms and around 1,200 square feet these units are nice and spacious. Whether you’re traveling with little ones, teens, or friends, you’ll have plenty of space to stay comfortable.
  • Nearby activities: If you tire of tennis and pool time, you can always check out the golf courses, Waikoloa Petroglyph Reserve, the Anchialine Pond Preservation Area, and Buddha Point. Plus this stargazing tour and this hike and waterfall swim pick up from the Queens’ Marketplace, just 1 mile away from the property!

Things to Know Before Booking The Colony Villas at Waikoloa

  • Accessibility: These units are not wheelchair accessible. There are no elevators on the property and there are stairs inside the units. Check out our handicap accessibility guide for planning an accessible Hawaii vacation!
  • Rental fees: All accommodations in Hawaii can come with some (rather large) fees. Whether you’re in a hotel paying resort fees or you’re getting a vacation rental and paying service fees, factor these into your equation. We usually go with VRBO because we’ve found that these fees are usually lower than what you’ll find on other similar platforms.
  • No unit consistency: all of these vacation rentals are individually owned, so there’s a lack of consistency. Some have excellent views and others come with a less impressive view or fewer helpful in-unit amenities. Reading reviews of individual units can always give you a better sense of what to expect before booking.
