Quick Overview
In a nutshell: A low frills, experience driven stay in the heart of Waikiki.
Overview of The Laylow
While the Laylow will not give you a beachfront experience, the location is still phenomenal as it’s really hard to go wrong with a heart-of-Waikiki hotel. Just a ten minute walk from the beach, it is situated close to great shops and restaurants. The Laylow has a unique ambiance and can be very busy, so be ready for a more hustle and bustle type environment within a quaint and modern setting. While there are minimal in-room amenities, it seems to really be catered toward an out of room experience with live music most nights and great coffee and dining at their Hideout coffee, restaurant, and bar.
The Laylow is an Autograph Collection Marriott Property, so Bonvoy Members can earn and use points here.

The Laylow Hotel Review: why we love it
- Exceptional customer service: Every staff member, from the valet to the front desk seems to be invested in you having a great experience.
- Extra touches: While in-room amenities are limited, their signature welcome baskets and staff interactions let you know you’ll be taken care of during your stay.
- Unique ambiance: everything about the Laylow says simple but sophisticated. So if a modern, artistic, Hawaiian city vibe is what you’re looking for, this is where you’ll find it.
Things to Know Before Booking the Laylow
- Views leave a lot to be desired for some: If an ocean view is a high priority for you, this hotel will disappoint. Nestled in the city, the views are less tropical and more, well, city-scape.
- No in-room coffee or room service: A common disappointment is not having coffee or food service to the room.
- Resort and parking fees: Unfortunately, high resort and parking fees are par for the course in Hawaii. Like many resorts, the Laylow charges both a daily resort fee and a daily parking fee, which is not included in the room rate. Parking is valet only, coming to $50 per day (Jan 2023) before tips. This can be sticker shock if you’re not expecting it.
