Kapalua Ridge Villas: space to spread out in north west Maui

Overview of the Kapalua Ridge Villas

The Kapalua Ridge Villas boast spacious units and a fantastic location. We love Kapalua because it’s a little bit removed from the excitement so you get a quieter vibe and beautiful hilly scenery. While these units are not beach front, you’ll be a short distance from several beaches, 3 of them even made our list of the 17 Best Maui Beaches. You will also still get phenomenal ocean views from around the property if not your lanai. These 1,100+ square foot units are wonderfully spacious for families or any one who wants to get back from a long day of explore and have plenty of space to relax.

The Kapalua Ridge Villas Key Facts

The Kapalua Ridge Villas Location:

This vacation rental is on one of our favorite parts of the island. It is about an hour from the airport and 20 minutes from Lahaina. They have a free shuttle service to anywhere within the resort area and you’re a 10-20 minute walk from Kapalua Bay, my favorite beach on the island. We love the northwest part of the island, but you do need to be cautious in the winter as this area will get more rain and can have some pretty nasty north swells, making for unsafe ocean conditions.

The Kapalua Ridge Villas Pool:

The Kapalua Ridge Villas has two pools, one on either side of the property, so you won’t ever be too far from swimming.

The Kapalua Ridge Villas Unit Sizes:

Starting around 1,100 square feet, these large townhomes offer 1 and 2-bedroom units, most with 2 and some with 3 bathrooms.

The Kapalua Ridge Villas Review: why we love it

• Location: We love Kapalua, there is so much to do and it’s home to my favorite beach on the entire island, Kapalua Bay Beach. You have easy access to the nearby beaches, spectacular lookouts, and other hidden gems (e.g. a rock labyrinth).
• Activities: In addition to the pools, tennis courts, golfing, and all of the other (paid) activities offered at the Ritz next door, you’re also a short walk away from Kapalua Ziplines where I conquered their 4-line course and I didn’t want it to end!
• Views: These units have spectacular views. Of course, this differs unit-to-unit, but whether it is from your lanai or around the property, the views around this area are phenomenal.
• Large condos: These are some good sized units, the 1-bedroom units start at 1,100 square feet and only go up from there. This is amazing for families or anyone who just doesn’t want to feel cramped on vacation. It really makes it a home away from home.
• Parking is complimentary and convenient, making a quick trip to the grocery store an easy effort, and a greater adventure more doable.
• It is a part of the larger Kapalua Bay resort area! Golf courses, spas, restaurants, and shops abound from the many nearby resorts, so you can feel at peace without feeling marooned.
• A free shared shuttle will take you between any two points in the resort, including hotels, residences, golf courses, and beaches. The shuttle is an on-call service that operates daily from 7am to 10:45pm.

Things to Know Before Booking The Kapalua Ridge Villas

• Shuttle: The shared shuttle will only take you to destinations within the Kapalua resort area. Trips to the airport, or beyond the area will require additional arrangements.
• Not ADA accessible: There is no elevator for upper level units and the units do not have accessibility features, many units even have stairs within them.
• Rental fees: All accommodations in Hawaii can come with some (rather large) fees. Whether you’re in a hotel paying resort fees or you’re getting a vacation rental and paying service fees, factor these into your equation. We usually go with VRBO because we’ve found that these fees are usually lower than what you’ll find on other similar platforms. 
• No unit consistency: all of these vacation rentals are individually owned, so there’s a lack of consistency. Some have excellent views and others come with a less impressive view or fewer helpful in-unit amenities. Reading reviews of individual units can always give you a better sense of what to expect before booking. 

And Marriott members can rejoice! There are Kapalua Ridge Villas available for rent on Marriott Homes & Villas. While you can’t read reviews for the individual units, Marriott holds their rentals to high standards. Plus, you can earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points for your stay.
