Jordan’s Bio
Jordan is the co-founder of The Hawaii Vacation Guide with his wife, Erica. They share honest reviews, personal stories, and insider tips to help people plan their perfect Hawaiian getaway.
The Hawaii Vacation Guide launched in late 2019, and its YouTube Channel launched in February 2020. With over 400 articles and videos, they have built a community of Hawaii travel enthusiasts.
Jordan’s Hawaii Story
Jordan moved to Oahu in 2009 as part of an internal company transfer. As a Chemical Engineer, the job was an excellent career opportunity. As a native-son of northern Michigan, a chance to live in Hawaii was a dream come true.
Eventually, his job required him to move away from Hawaii, but he vowed to return. After stints working overseas, Jordan and Erica realized it was time to move back. In 2019, with their 18-month-old son in tow, they moved to Maui when Jordan took a gap year from his job.
As it happens, when one moves to a tropical island, friends and family visit. Jordan and Erica realized there was no reliable travel resource they could point them to, so they created The Hawaii Vacation Guide.
What Jordan Does Today
He puts his love for Hawaii into writing articles that reflect the regenerative tourism goals of each island community. Jordan works hard to stay up to date on Hawaii activities, the best restaurants, hotel quality, and everything visitor-related.
Today, Jordan takes great pride in writing The Hawaii Vacation Guide Newsletter every two weeks. Here, he can share his favorite tips, tours, latest trips, and things to do with his 75,000+ subscribers.
Jordan also writes articles and spends a disproportionate amount of time editing YouTube videos. When in Hawaii, he captures their favorite memories with the Wayfinder Collection fine art prints.
While Jordan no longer lives on Maui (they moved to the mainland to be closer to family), his family visits Hawaii multiple times throughout the year. They prefer the perspective of visiting as a tourist rather than a local resident.
Hawai’i Favorites
His favorite thing to do in Hawaii is snorkeling with manta rays on the Big Island, hiking on Oahu, playing on Waikiki Beach, and snorkeling on Maui.
In an age of rapidly changing technology and AI-generated content, Jordan focuses on providing human experiences on travel. The unique, the special, and the relevant are what he appreciates. While he enjoys an adventure, sitting and savoring is always part of his trips to Hawaii, usually, with a mai tai.
Jordan has been featured in Hawaii Business Magazine, FareHarbor Newsletter, and numerous podcasts.
