Quick Overview
In a nutshell: Understated luxury with a ton of amenities. The Andaz Maui with Points is worth those reward travel points!
Overview of the Andaz
This luxury, beachfront resort is known for its great luau, excellent restaurants, and stellar location. The Feast at Mokapu Luau made it on our list of the Best Maui Luaus, the Japanese restaurant on site, Morimoto, and the Lehua Lounge are both wonderful. Plus, there’s a 24-hour market, which is very convenient.
The hotel itself is set just back from the beach, interrupted only by the Wailea walking path that connects you to a ton of stunning south Maui beaches and more luxury resorts. With a courtesy vehicle to take you around Wailea, and a ton of amenities covered by the resort fee, you could even skip the rental car while you’re staying here. There are a bunch of great activities that leave from Wailea, so you’re sure to keep busy

The Andaz Maui Key Facts
The Andaz Maui Location:
The Andaz is beachfront in Wailea, a town about 30 minutes from Kahului Airport, 50 minutes from the start of the Road to Hana, and about an hour from Ka’anapali
The Andaz Pool:
The Andaz has not 1, not 2, but 5 pools on site. We’ll admit, the pools themselves are not spectacular, but the views are! There are 3 ocean-facing infinity pools, an adults-only (18+) pool, and a lagoon pool
Booking the Andaz Maui with Points
The Andaz Maui is a Hyatt property. There are eight Hyatt hotels in Hawaii; we share details on all of them in our Hyatt Hotels in Hawaii article. In the Hyatt vs Marriott Rewards in Hawaii showdown, Hyatt wins.
Hyatt uses an award chart to determine the points needed to redeem a free night. The Andaz Maui resort is an award Category 8 hotel, Hyatt’s highest category.
- Off-Peak: 35,000 points
- Standard: 40,000 points
- Peak: 45,000 points
Standard rooms are the norm unless you get lucky or can book a year in advance for off-peak rooms. The off-peak seasons are Hawaii’s shoulder seasons of September and October, and April and May. The peak seasons are around the holidays and the summer. Being flexible is the key to getting rooms with lower points.
As an example, we chose a night in May where you can book a standard room for 40,000 points (the resort fee is included with Hyatt rewards).

If you were to book this room in cash, you’d pay $678 per night, including the resort fee. This rate is the Hyatt member, pre-payment rate, the best you are going to get!

The Andaz Review: why we love it
- Location: We love Wailea, and the Andaz is nicely situated just adjacent to one of the best beaches on Maui, Ulua Beach. It is in front of Mokapu Beach. It’s also just off the Wailea walking path, which snakes along the coast, making for a beautiful stroll. Plus, the Andaz Maui offers transport within Wailea, so you can get away with not having a car if you plan to stay local.
- Design: While it doesn’t quite scream 5-star, it is beautifully designed and thought out. The views from the pools are spectacular, and the ambiance, especially at night, makes me want to go back!
- Hyatt property: We love a Hyatt property because the points rate is so incredible, especially when compared to competitors (sorry, Marriott). You can book a night at this hotel for free using points after completing just one sign-on bonus. That’s math we can get behind, so be sure to learn more about booking your trip on points! The Andaz Maui with points is featured in our full list of Hawaii Hotels with Points.
- Amenities: The Andaz is upgrading the amenities covered by the nightly resort fee in 2024 to include a plethora of great activities and services, including a lei greeting, outrigger excursions, SUP paddle outs, ukulele and hula lessons, kayak tours, and a whole lot more.
- Pet friendly: While most Hawaii travelers don’t come with a pet in tow, you can bring your dog to Hawaii (it’s just a bit complicated), and most lodging around the islands is not pet friendly. When we lived in Hawaii with our little dog Hattie, we loved island hopping, so it was always really nice to find a place we could take her.
- Included with your booking: Free internet access, fitness center, access to the spa, laundry, and other standard amenities for Maui hotels.

Things to Know Before Booking The Andaz
- Not a 5-star hotel: Don’t get us wrong, it’s nice, but it’s a solid 4-star stay. The pools aren’t extraordinary (go to the Grand Wailea if you’re looking for incredible pools), the service doesn’t quite make it, and there isn’t anything that really pushes it into the 5-star category. It is priced accordingly, though, so I give it 4.25 stars for being a “5-star” resort that keeps prices lower than most true 5-star Maui resorts.
- Family-centered: Families love the Andaz, so for child-free travelers, it can be a bit loud and less relaxing than some other luxury resorts. Just remember there is an adults-only pool so you can still get time away from the little ones.
- Resort and parking fees: Unfortunately, high resort and parking fees are par for the course in Hawaii. Like many resorts, the Andaz charges both a daily resort fee and a daily parking fee (valet only), which is not included in the room rate. This can be sticker shock if you’re not expecting it.
