We had an epic day on Maui’s Road to Hana. We swam under a waterfall, visited a black sand beach and a chocolate farm, and enjoyed coconut ice cream, but we were exhausted. Strategically, we booked a free night at the Hana-Maui Resort—one of eight Hyatt hotels in Hawaii.
Here is your guide to using reward points to book Hyatt hotels in Hawaii. These are some of our favorite places to stay in Hawaii. They have great locations, are modern, and are available at various Hyatt award categories.
When comparable hotels charge 50,000-65,000 points per night for a hotel room, you can find Hyatt hotel rooms for 12,000 – 45,000 points per night in Hawaii. This means the points you earn from sign-up bonuses will go even further.
If you don’t have one yet, opt for a card that transfers to Hyatt to take advantage of these points rates. Here is a short tutorial on using points to travel to Hawaii.
Here is what’s in our wallets for our trips to Hawaii! We explain why in our Best Credit Cards for Hawaii Travel.
Now, let’s dig into all of the Hyatt hotels in Hawaii, plus how to book Hyatt Award nights.
Hyatt Hotels in Hawaii
There are 8 Hyatt hotels across the Hawaiian Islands, and we’ve stayed at most and toured all of them. You can find a Hyatt hotel to match your budget, vacation style, and the points you’ve saved!
Here is the complete list of all the Hyatt hotels in Hawaii. There are no Hyatts on the Big Island, one on Kauai, three on Oahu, and four on Maui. Click the links to learn more and book a room.
- Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa (Category 8)
- Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach (Category 4)
- Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa (Category 5)
- Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach (Category 5)
- Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa (Category 6)
- Hyatt Vacation Club at Ka’anapali Beach (Category 7)
- Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort (Category 8)
- Hana-Maui Resort (Category 7)
The Hyatt hotels in Hawaii range from Category 4 on Oahu to Category 8 on Maui and Kauai. Standard rooms start at 12,000 points for an off-peak Category 4 hotel (Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach).
For the Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, prepare to spend 35,000 points for an off-peak, standard room. A great deal for a $800+ a night Maui hotel. Here is the official reward points by Hyatt hotel category.
A note on hotel rewards in Hawaii: if you have a high-level status with a hotel brand, you may be used to getting extra perks or upgrades, but you probably won’t see as much of that in Hawaii. Rewards members love booking with the brands they’re loyal to, and they’re also heading to Hawaii, so your chances of getting those extra perks are much slimmer.

I realize you’re already sold on using your hard-earned points on Hyatt hotels in Hawaii. As we enjoy Marriott hotels in Hawaii, here is a breakdown of where to use your points: Hyatt vs Marriott Rewards in Hawaii.
Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa
Reasons to Stay Here: Luxury, pool, family-friendly, & quiet
Points Rate: 25,000 – 35,000
Cash Rate: $1,300+
Award Category: 8
Pro Tip: We stayed at the Grand Hyatt Kauai with 50,000 points. The extra points got us access to the Club Grand lounge. The club is a wonderful benefit as we had our breakfast, snacks, and dinner there every night for our family of four.

Sitting right on Shipwreck Beach, at the head of the Mahaulepu Heritage Trail and the end of the Poipu resort strip, is the Grand Hyatt. Thanks to the location and amenities, this property achieves a hard-to-find balance of relaxing, upscale, quiet retreat and family-friendly fun.
There is a multi-level lazy river pool and a saltwater lagoon with its own little islands, perfect for little ones or days when the ocean is too rough for a proper beach day. There is so much to do on site, you could easily spend a day or two here without getting bored, but of course, we think you should explore more of the island, too! Kauai has a lot to offer, and our Kauai Travel Guide can get you acquainted with it all.
The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort is an excellent Kauai resort for kids. See our Kauai with Kids Ultimate Guide if you’re coming to Kauai with your family.
This hotel has recently added to the amenities covered under the resort fee, which now include:
- A Hawaiian Cultural Center
- Yoga classes
- Nightly entertainment
- Koi fish feeding and parrot talk
- An arrival/departure lounge
- Kids under 5 eat free at Ilima Terrace
- An airport shuttle
- Wifi
- Garden tours
- 2 mai tais and an appetizer or dessert
- And more!

There are a few things worth noting before you book your stay. First, the on-site restaurants are not the best on the island, and they can be hard to get into, so we recommend checking out some of Kauai’s food truck scene.
Second, it’s removed from the main resort area, which may be just what you’re looking for. If not, it’s a 5-minute drive or a 30-minute walk.
Skip that $40+ resort fee! Hyatt Hotels in Hawaii have no resort fees! Booking with points with World of Hyatt means you skip the resort fees, one of our six strategies in How to Avoid Resort Fees in Hawaii.
Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach (Oahu)
Reasons to Stay Here: Location & convenience
Points Rate: 20,000 – 25,000
Cash Rate: $400+
Award Category: 5
The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach has small but luxurious rooms right in the middle of Waikiki. It’s the perfect spot for a vacation spent out and exploring with convenience right at your fingertips!
There are two restaurants on site, and the hotel is massive with over 1,200 rooms. A big hotel works in your favor when booking with points, though, because you have a better chance of finding award night availability.

Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach is located in a very busy area of Waikiki, and it feels like it. This isn’t the spot for a tranquil, quiet vacation; it’s the place to launch yourself into the action!
Of course, this Hyatt in Hawaii made our list of the Best Hotels on Waikiki Beach.
Here is our full review and details on booking with points: Hyatt Regency Waikiki with Points
It’s a good thing the location is so central because you will not want to bring a car here with parking fees at $60 per night for self-park and $70 per night for valet (cue wide-eyed emoji). At those rates, we’d rather take a cab or rent for the day. Here’s how to get around Oahu without a car.

Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach (Oahu)
Reasons to Stay Here: Service & value for points
Points Rate: 17,000 – 23,000
Cash Rate: $300+
Award Category: 5
Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach is a 4-star hotel, but it’s only a Hyatt Category 5, meaning you can snag a room here for as little as 17,000 points per night! The rooms are a nice size, modern, and clean, but while the rooms do have floor-to-ceiling windows, there are no lanais. The service is absolutely exceptional and is often compared to that of 5-star hotels.
This may not be a beachfront hotel, but like all Waikiki hotels, you’ll really only be about 5 minutes from the sand and steps from shopping and dining. See our 21 Best Things to Do in Waikiki for itinerary ideas!

Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach (Oahu)
Reasons to Stay Here: Points rate & walkability
Points Rate: 9,000 – 15,000
Cash Rate: $300+
Award Category: 4
Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach’s offerings are pretty basic. Next to its walkable Waikiki location, it’s really about the points rate here because it quite literally cannot be beat for a Hawaii hotel.
One sign-on bonus can get you a 4-5 night stay, but that puts award nights in very high demand. You’ll have to plan far in advance to secure those deals, so be sure to plan your trip around award availability and book everything else after.
The rooms are small and not anything special, but they are clean and sufficient for a Hawaii home base. There is a pool and a fitness center on site, and it’s just a 5-minute walk from the beach. It’s a 10-minute walk to the zoo, and everything else you could want is right in Waikiki, so you won’t be far.

Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa
Reasons to Stay Here: On-site activities, family-friendly, & large rooms
Points Rate: 21,000 – 29,000
Cash Rate: $600+
Award Category: 6

The Hyatt Regence Maui Resort and Spa is the southernmost resort on Ka’anapali Beach, it’s on a quieter (albeit narrower) strip of sand with access to the entire resort area via the Ka’anapali Beachwalk.
It’s a mile from Whaler’s Village Shopping Center, but there is so much to do on site and several restaurants, it’s hardly noticeable how removed it is from the other resorts.
- The ULTIMATE Ka’anapali Guide
- 19+ Things to Do in Ka’anapali, Maui
- Ka’anapali vs Wailea: both have Hyatts!
This is arguably one of the most unique large resorts to stay at on Maui. From swans, koi fish, and a free penguin sanctuary to a mermaid swim academy, you’ll be kept very busy. That’s just a small taste of what’s available. The calendar is packed with cultural activities, plus there is a spa, fitness center, and restaurants at your fingertips.
The pool at Hyatt Regency Maui is large (half an acre) and has waterfalls, a waterslide, a rope swing, and a swim-up grotto bar. It’s also attached a children’s play pool with a splash pad, kid-friendly slides, and water features.

The Hyatt Regency Maui is loved by many visitors, it is one of the most popular resorts on Maui. But, we find it crowded around the pool and dated. They are remodeling, like the main pool was remodeled in 2025, but the rooms need an refresh.
The Drums of the Pacific Luau (standard seating and VIP seating) is conveniently located at the resort, but it isn’t our favorite Maui luau. The hotel is a classic and well worth a free night with points!
Maui is the most expensive Hawaiian island to visit, thanks to the average daily rates of its hotels. As Maui is the island we see the most, we lean heavily into booking award travel using the travel credit cards we share below.
Hyatt Vacation Club at Ka’anapali Beach (Maui)
Reasons to Stay Here: Full kitchens & hotel amenities
Points Rate: 25,000 – 35,000
Cash Rate: $700+
Award Category: 7
Located right next to the Hyatt Regency Maui, it has almost all the same pros and cons with the location, but Hyatt Vacation Club at Ka’anapali has a bit more beach than the Regency does.
This is where vacation rental meets hotel. This property consists of all one-, two-, and three-bedroom units with full kitchens and private lanais.
It’s worth noting that it’s extremely difficult to find award night availability here, so if you’re set on using points and staying on Ka’anapali Beach, opt for the Regency next door for a better chance at booking with points.

Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort
Reasons to Stay Here: Luxury, location, and family-friendly
Points Rate: 35,000 – 45,000
Cash Rate: $1,600+
Award Category: 8

The Andaz is a 5-star hotel where no detail is spared, and the service is exactly what you would expect for a luxury resort. There is a full salon and spa on site and five pools. Three of them are infinity pools overlooking the ocean. The tranquility pool is adults only (18+), and the lagoon pool is a great family-friendly place to relax or play.
Located in Wailea just in front of Mokapu Beach and walking distance to Ulua Beach, it’s just under a 15-minute walk to the Shops at Wailea and about a 30-minute drive from Kahului Airport.

We’ve stayed at the Andaz Maui and Hana-Maui Resort using points. See how we did it below with step-by-step support!
Hana-Maui Resort
Reasons to Stay Here: Do the Road to Hana in 2 days & tranquility
Points Rate: 25,000 – 35,000
Cash Rate: $700+
Award Category: 7

Driving the Road to Hana is not for the faint of heart, and it can be especially tough to do in one day if you have little ones. We love staying at the Hana-Maui to split up the drive. It’s also one of the few accommodations on the east side of the island, and one of the few that allow you to book just one night. All that, and you can book it for as little as 25,000 points, so it wins all-around in our book!
The rooms feel a bit dated, but they’re very spacious, with just 66 rooms on the property. You’ll get some of the classic resort amenities like a pool, tennis courts, daily yoga, and even use of resort bikes to get around.

It’s lush and beautiful thanks to being on the rainy side of the island, but that means rainbows, and plenty of gorgeous waterfalls! This is also a quiet and secluded area, perfect for a tranquil getaway.

How to Book Hyatt Hotels in Hawaii Using Points
Before we get into the details of exactly how to transfer points to Hyatt, you first need to find reward night availability. Recently, we’ve seen a lot of availability in Hawaii because demand for travel to Hawaii is down. One exception to that is the Hyatt Place Waikiki, which is a Category 3 Hyatt hotel, so it can be booked for as little as 12,000 points per night.
We share our favorite travel credit cards at the learn more button below. These are the types of cards that enable point transfers to World of Hyatt.
Here’s how we find and book our award nights for Hyatt hotels in Hawaii.
Search on World of Hyatt
We usually start by going directly to the source. Hyatt makes it really easy to search for award availability on their website. If you don’t know which hotel you want to book, you can put in a general search for “Hawaii” and click “use points” to get the price in points.
If you want to see the points calendar for a specific hotel, just click on “points calendar” under the hotel name. This will display the number of points that are needed for each night at the hotel. Note: This does not show actual availability. It’ll just tell you when the peak, regular, and off-peak rate nights are.
Trying one night
If you’re having trouble finding availability, try searching for one night first rather than your entire vacation. If you’re trying to book five nights and the hotel says it doesn’t have any rooms available for points, it might just be because one of the nights you’re searching for is sold out. Searching night by night will help you identify which night is sold out, and then you can adjust your plans accordingly.
Use a Third-Party Site
If we’re really not having luck finding award nights, I’ll use a site like Max My Point, to help me search. It’s not entirely up-to-date, but it’ll help me narrow in on a time period (or hotel) that might have reward nights available.

How to Book Hyatt Award Nights: Transferring Points to Hyatt
So now that you’ve found availability, you might be wondering how exactly to book. You’ve racked up points, but they may not be in your Hyatt account, so you’ll have to go through the extra step of transferring them.
Your first thought might be to book your hotel stay through your credit card’s travel portal, but that isn’t always the right choice. These portals give you the opportunity to pay for the cash value of the room rate in points. That can be a nice option sometimes, but because you’re here reading this, you’re going to learn how to get the most value out of your points.
Why We Don’t Book Through Travel Portals: An Example
To really illustrate why we don’t usually book through travel portals, we’ll go through a quick example. The cash value of points varies from bank to bank, but it doesn’t tend to be as good as Hyatt’s rate. Let’s say you’re trying to book a two-night stay at the Grand Hyatt Kauai.
The cash value in points is over 125,500 points + resort fees. If you book through Hyatt, you’ll just need to use 60,000 points (30,000 points per night).
That’s an absolutely stellar deal.
How to Transfer Points to Hyatt
Now that we’ve covered how amazing it is to book a room at a Hyatt by transferring points to a travel partner, we’ll walk through the exact steps to get there.
Step 0: Premium Card
In order for this strategy to work you need to have at least ONE premium card. A premium card is one with an annual fee. These fees can be hefty, but for us, they have been more than worth it.
As always, you can find all of our card recommendations here.
Step 1: Create a World of Hyatt Account
Head to Hyatt.com and create a free World of Hyatt account if you don’t already have one. This is their loyalty program, where you can earn and redeem points.
Step 2: Find the Rewards Nights You Want to Book
Using the strategies above, find the reward night availability. It helps to have somewhat flexible dates here, or plan at least a few months in advance.
Step 3: Log in to Your Bank Account
If you’ve already transferred points to your premium card, you’re all set. Otherwise, you’ll want to combine points and transfer them from your non-premium account to your premium account.
Step 4: Transfer to Travel Partners
Once your points are combined (if needed), it’s time to transfer points to a travel partner. From your premium card account, you’ll have an option to transfer points. Remember, this option is only available with a premium card. We share such cards at the button below, as these are the cards in our wallets!
Find the travel partner you want to transfer your points to. Enter your World of Hyatt account information. Transfer the amount you need (you’ll need to round to the nearest 1,000 points).

Step 5: Check Everything and Click Confirm
Double-check everything and click confirm when you know it’s correct. Once you transfer points to Hyatt, you cannot transfer them back, so double-check!
Step 6: Head to your World of Hyatt Account
It says that it can take up to 7 days for your points to transfer, but each time I’ve done this, I’ve only needed to wait a few minutes.
Now that the points are in your World of Hyatt account, find that hotel room you wanted to book and book it!
Make note of any cancellation policies because you don’t want to cancel too late and lose out on these points.
But your room is now booked, and you’re almost ready to enjoy your fabulous vacation! Here is what is in our wallets for free travel to Hawaii.
